My touch sessions are focused on imparting an experience of deep relaxation and sensory awareness. I like to think of touch as a vehicle for experiencing and sharing a state of consciousness.
My modality of choice is the Trager Approach, developed by Dr. Milton Trager.
A Trager session involves work on a massage table, similar to massage and energy work, with some standing or seated movement suggestions to help anchor what is learned. The Trager Approach is appropriate for people of all ages and physical conditions. The work is gentle and respectful of every body and its unique needs.
The Trager Approach helps release deep-seated physical and mental patterns and facilitate deep relaxation, increased mobility and mental clarity.
Benefits are cumulative and include:
- increased flexibility and ease of movement
- improved posture
- letting go of habitual areas of tension
- reduced pain
- increased awareness of self
- letting go of chronic stress
- mental calm and peace
The Trager Approach has been reported to ease or manage the symptoms of a wide range of conditions, including:
- back and neck pain
- everyday aches and pains
- limited movement
- muscle spasms
- poor posture
- multiple sclerosis
- cerebral palsy
- post-polio syndrome
- Parkinson's Disease
